GVÖ ensures that empty containers are collected throughout Germany and recycled in accordance with legal requirements.

Dirk Kopplow, CEO of GVÖ. He has been driving the collection of empty oil containers for over 30 years.

The collection points are all petrol stations, workshops, specialist shops and wholesale markets that sell mineral oils, greases, radiator antifreeze, additives and similar oil-based products. They are obliged to take back the empty packaging.

We organise recycling at certified specialist facilities. The plastic from the collected containers is processed into granulate. This granulate can be used as a raw material for new plastic products.

In 2022, we collected so many bags of empty oil containers that, based on calculations, they would have filled an entire football stadium.

Collection points are all petrol stations, workshops, specialist shops and wholesale markets that sell mineral oils, greases, radiator antifreeze, additives and similar oil-based products. They are obliged to take back the empty packaging.
The GVÖ take-back system can be used by all companies that distribute products from GVÖ's licence partners. Simply register online.
You can find information about the law on the marketing, return and high-quality recovery of packaging on the website of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
